WEST HAVEN — Finance Director Frank Cieplinski “is no longer employed by the City of West Haven,” effective immediately, Mayor Nancy Rossi said Thursday.
A familiar face in the area will be filling the role, according to the mayor.
Rossi appointed former Hamden Mayor Scott Jackson as the city’s finance director, effective Feb. 28.
“I thank Mr. Cieplinski for his service to the City of West Haven,” she said in a statement.
“Mr. Jackson brings a wealth of municipal, state and managerial expertise and experience to the city, and I look forward to working with him closely to evaluate controls and reorganize our Finance Department,” she said.
Jackson served as commissioner for the state Department of Labor and its Department of Revenue Services and also was an initial member of the Municipal Accountability Review Board, a state body that has exercised some oversight over West Haven’s finances since 2017, during his time as undersecretary at the Office of Policy and Management. He also has served as chief administrative officer in New Haven.
